A weekend in Tenterden
28 June 2026
Tenterden makes a brilliant base for a relaxed weekend in the Weald of Kent. Here's how we'd spend it.
Saturday — town and trains
Start with breakfast at one of the High Street cafés, then spend the morning browsing Tenterden's independent shops. After lunch, hop aboard the Kent & East Sussex Railway for a steam trip through the countryside. Round off the day with dinner at a local restaurant or pub.
Sunday — vineyards and villages
Devote Sunday to the countryside. Visit a vineyard for a tour and tasting, then drive out to the villages: Biddenden for wine and cider, Rolvenden for its gardens, or Appledore for a gentle stroll along the Royal Military Canal.
Where to stay
There's a good range of places to stay in and around Tenterden, from town-centre inns to village bed and breakfasts.
